Although Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double, the Denver Nuggets were able to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves late on Wednesday night, 122-118.

Nikola Jokic was a source of frustration for the Wolves early on as he accrued three fouls and was on the verge of a fourth after elbowing Naz Reid. The Nuggets’ star eventually settled into a routine, leading the team with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Due to the continued absence of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert due to injuries, the Timberwolves were at a disadvantage when playing Jokic. Reid, who started at center, did his best to make up for it by scoring 17 points.

Luka Garza had a strong night for Minnesota as well, scoring 16 points off the bench.

Despite the Timberwolves’ balanced performance, which saw seven players score in double figures, the Nuggets made their move after D’Angelo Russell’s 3-pointer gave Minnesota a lead of 118-113 with 2:51 left in the fourth quarter.

In the following possession, Aaron Gordon scored a two-handed dunk with the help ofNikola Jokic’s final assist of the game after Anthony Edwards was unable to connect on a shot.

Jaden McDaniels scored 18 points to lead Minnesota, and Kyle Anderson added 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists for a double-double. Edwards had 16 points and 9 rebounds, Taurean Prince had 14 points, and Russell had 13 points and 7 assists.

Denver was led by Murray’s 28 points, Bruce Brown’s 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and Gordon’s 12 points in the victory.
