Actor Julian Sands missing: Actor Julian Sands went on a mountain hike and was missing for several days.
Actor Julian Sands has reportedly been missing for five days after climbing Mt. Baldy in Southern California.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Mara Rodriguez confirmed that Sands, 65, was reported missing in the Baldy Bowl area at about 7:30 on Friday night.
According to Rodriguez, a search for Sands, who is well-known for his work in “A Room with a View,” was launched but suspended Saturday night owing to the condition of the trail and the potential for an avalanche.
According to Rodriguez, when the weather allows, search and rescue personnel will continue to examine the region using helicopters and drones, and when it’s safe to do so, they will plan another ground search.
The location has hazardous circumstances due to heavy winds and ice, therefore the department advised people to follow warnings and stay away.
The department issued advice saying that “recent storms that delivered the snow and ice conditions are not conducive for hikers, even those who feel they have a high degree of experience.”
The department reported that during the past four weeks, search and rescue teams have reacted to 14 rescue missions for lost, stranded, and injured hikers on the mountain and nearby, and two hikers have perished after falling and suffering injuries.
North of Los Angeles, in the San Gabriel Mountains, is where Mt. Baldy may be found.
English-born actor Sands appeared in “A Room with a View” (1985), as well as “Warlock” (1989) and “Arachnophobia” (1990). Over the years, he has additionally appeared in a large number of other films and television programs.
