Mega Millions: THE NEW YORK (WABC) On Friday the 13th, is anyone interested in trying their luck in the Mega Millions?
You might get $1.35 billion in more wealth if you do. The second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history is that one.
One in roughly 303 million is the low likelihood of winning a Mega Millions drawing.
Many people play on Friday the 13th and succeed. Six individuals have won the lotto on Friday the 13th thus far.
No billionaires were produced by the drawing on Tuesday night, but three people, including two from New York and Connecticut, did win $3 million.
Tickets worth $1 million were also held by individuals in New York and New Jersey.
The most recent grand prize winner was on October 14.
Thus, Professor Bruce Torff stated, “You are 1,363 times more likely to be struck by lightning than to win the lotto.”
According to Torff, your chances of dying in an aircraft disaster are 27,000 times higher than those of winning the letter, and your chances of dying from a meteorite strike are 1,210 times higher.
Lottery officials authorized modifications to Mega Millions in the fall of 2017 that drastically increased the odds from one in 258.9 million to one in 302.6 million. In October 2015, they made similar adjustments to Powerball, lowering the odds from one in 175.2 million to one in 292.2 million.
The theory was that by reducing the frequency of jackpots, ticket sales could increase week after week, creating enormous prizes that would garner attention and draw in new players who had become numb to top awards of $100 million or $200 million.
Additionally, Powerball added a third weekly drawing in August 2021, allowing the jackpot to roll over and rise even faster as more people had the chance to participate and lose. The two weekly drawings have been maintained by Mega Millions.
These actions have led to the winning of nine of the top 10 highest lottery prizes since 2017.
Along with Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mega Millions is played in 45 states.
On Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m., Powerball drawings are additionally streamed here.
At 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday, Mega Millions drawings are streamed.
With billions of dollars going toward funding education in New York State, the New York Lottery is the biggest and most successful in North America.
The same legal mechanism is used to allocate funds to local school districts as it is to allocate other state aid to education. The New York lottery states that the methodology considers both the size and the income level of a school district; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger portions of Lottery school money.
